Job Summary

The Wilder Bikeshare Mechanic will serve the campus community as part of the team that implements the Student Union’s bicycle rental program.

Responsibilities

● Stellar Customer Service: Provide top notch service to the campus community by maintaining the Student Union’s fleet of four loaner bicycles and interacting with patrons and co-workers in an energetic and upbeat manner.
● Daily Inspection: Regularly check the Wilder Information Desk daily logs for notes pertaining to the Bikeshare operation, and regularly inspect the bicycles themselves.
● Preventive Maintenance: Maintain the vehicles to keep them in good working order. Coordinate purchase of necessary parts and supplies.
● Emergency Maintenance: Make repairs as needed. Coordinate larger repairs with local mechanics.
● Seasonal Storage: Coordinate Winter storage of bicycles in the Wilder attic, and their return to service when weather allows.
● Promotional Outreach: Within the confines of a minimal budget, promote the Wilder Bikeshare program to the campus community.

Qualifications

Please possess the ability to maintain a genuinely pleasant demeanor at all times with patrons and co-workers. Ongoing dedicated responsibility to the task while working autonomously and setting your own schedule is essential to the success of the program.
Applicants should possess a strong understanding of basic bicycle mechanics, and be highly skilled at routine bicycle maintenance and repair. Advanced bicycle repair skills are a plus. An established good working relationship with the Oberlin Bike Co-op (and/or Swerve) is desired.

Compensation

$8.20 per hour
