Job Summary

The student assistant works with staff members in the Conservatory Communications Office to help fulfill the office’s overall mission to—
• showcase faculty members, department offerings, and achievements of students and alumni;
• highlight Conservatory initiatives that allow the school to stand out among its competitors; and
• convey Oberlin’s unique synergy between professional music training, liberal arts education, and the artistic/creative campus culture.

Responsibilities

The Conservatory Communications
Student Assistants perform a variety of support functions including—
• developing and writing stories covering news of students, faculty, alumni, events and programs used for online and in print;
• creating podcasts;
• supporting events promotion efforts;
• developing and maintaining media and outreach contact lists;
• providing support for the Oberlin Music label (editorial and design meetings/input; maintaining Oberlin Music label Facebook page; promotion efforts to publications; on-campus sales events at ARS concerts; monitoring Con Comm CD inventory; monitoring reviews and compiling quotes).

Successful candidates will demonstrate —
• excellent writing and verbal communication skills;
• attention to detail; and
• a professional demeanor.

Compensation

$8.25 – 8.65 per hour based on technical skill set required for position and office seniority.
