Job Summary

The Department of Facilities Operations invites applications for a temporary part-time (20 hours per week), Custodian. This is a non-classified position primarily for weekend coverage at various sites across campus and carries no benefits.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities: Under the direction of a Custodial Service Manager, the incumbent will have general responsibility for the cleaning of College buildings and will perform the following (but not limited to the following) specific duties:

Essential Job Functions:
• Empty waste cans and remove trash/recyclable materials from buildings and restrooms.
• Clean restrooms including washing walls, light fixtures, sinks, partitions, urinals, fixtures, grout lines, showers and shower curtains. Refill supplies, and dust and damp mop floors as needed.
• Carry a radio while on duty in order to provide emergency custodial services as needed due to spills, breakage or other hazardous/unsanitary conditions in a prompt manner.
• Clean stairwells, including steps, landings, doors, handrails, walls, risers, and horizontal surfaces.
• Sweep and wash interior and exterior entrances, remove debris and trash from building exits, and remove snow from entrances.
• Vacuum carpets.
• Follow all OSHA and College rules and regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow and adhere to use of green cleaning policies and practices.

Marginal Job Functions:
• Move heavy furniture to perform cleaning activities.
• Other duties as assigned by Custodial Area Manager.

Qualifications

Requirements: Substantial work experience demonstrating the ability to work with minimal supervision; demonstrated work history of acceptable attendance and punctuality; demonstrated work experience working in a team setting; ability to read and follow written instructions and chemical labels, etc. Must pass a skills/knowledge test and custodial practical test during the interview process, as well as ability to lift and move 40 pounds; ability to work in rooms and buildings with chemical and paint odors; and favorable references, Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain the College’s insurability standards.

Any offer made to an external candidate is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a comprehensive background investigation and pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol testing.

Desired Qualifications: One year of previous custodial experience.

Compensation

This position pays an hourly wage of $13.00 and hour and carries no benefits.
