Job Summary

The Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time faculty position as String Chamber Music Coordinator.

About

The Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, founded in 1865, is the nation’s oldest continuously operating conservatory, and the only major music school in the country linked with a preeminent liberal arts college. Students are enrolled in undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Music in performance, composition, music history, historical performance, electronic and computer music, and jazz studies. Graduate programs leading to the Master of Music in conducting, Master of Music in historical performance, and Master of Contemporary Chamber Music. Performance and artist diplomas are also offered.

Responsibilities

• Coach string chamber music;  
• Participate in faculty chamber music performances;
• Coordinate with faculty to organize student chamber music ensembles;
• Collaborate with faculty in creating performance opportunities and arranging guest artist master classes and residencies to augment the professional training of Oberlin string students;
• Organize and administer internal master classes;
• Organize and administer String Chamber Fest recitals each semester;
• Organize and administer Winter Term Chamber Music Intensive Seminar.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a chamber music performer and coach;
• Experience in administering a chamber music program;
• Strength in working collaboratively with faculty, staff and students;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation

This position will be filled at an annual salary commensurate with the incumbent’s education and experience and includes a generous benefits package.
